Hi all, sorry for the numpty question, but I signed up for a Google Workspace Business Starter subscription yesterday (without really understanding what it was - but got a free 2 week trial). As part of this, I bought a domain (e.g. audi321.info) for £10/year.

Now I seem to have the ability to set up email addresses linked to this, for example john@audi321.info and pete@audi321.info.

My questions are:

1. Do I now own www.audi321.info as a website? If so, what do I need to do to access it or make pages? When I go onto said website on chrome, I get a 'This site can’t be reached' error.

2. I've set up a couple of email addresses as above, do I need to continue the monthly subscription to Google (about £5/month per user) to maintain these email addresses? Or now I've bought the domain for £10/year, do I get these included? If so, what is the £5/mth actually for?

Sorry for the thick questions..........

You don't own the domain, just lease it. Fail to pay upon renewal and someone else can have it.
To get a website you need to upload your website (or use WordPress or similar) to your hosting provider, then point your domain to the hosting service.
The website will then be displayed....if you got it all correct...
Regards the emails, they will also be hosted and your email client needs to know where to look for them unless it is a web based email, then you can access them through the providers front end.

I've got a couple of domains and use the UK2 webmail facility as the back end. All of it, domains included, are paid on an annual basis.

Once you get the gist of having the domain name as the public face and the email client as the 'workings' even I can do it and believe me I'm not a techie.

£5 a month seems expensive for a domain - mine is something like £25 a year

You need to work out if you want to continue using Google workspace first of all. Understand what it is and why you'd want to connect your domain to it. Yes you can get cheaper email hosting - probably with your domain provider - but Google is more of a premium service with bigger mailboxes, better spam detection etc. Note you can easily have multiple email addresses per paid account if you wish.

Google workspace also includes "Sites" which is website hosting included with your account. It's fairly basic, but not a bad place to start providing you don't need anything too advanced.

Yes, and also factor in extra things like the file storage on Drive, apps for Word processing, Spreadsheets, Presentations, Notes, Task Management etc etc etc

There's a lot included, probably a lot you may not use, and we're only scratching the surface in these comments.
