If any PH members have removed or bypassed the DPF on their diesel cars or vans, now might be a good time to find a new or used replacement before they get really expensive due to supply and demand.

360 miles = 576,000m
x 3 = 1,728,000m
/ 6 = 288,000 cars
DPF certainly would seem to be critical to cleaning up exhaust particulates.
I wonder what the particulates are like down-wind of Heathrow, and other large urban airports.
This will self resolve in a decade any way so not sure what the big issue is.
Most of the cars that had early DPF you’d see removed due to faults/issues are becoming rarer and rarer in my experience.
And MOT should be checking for missing parts of emissions control systems?
Plus, hand wringing over cancer etc… rules to protect us etc…
How about banning smoking and refined sugars and all the stuff making people really unwell and leading to cancers?

The mot diesel emission test needs updating big time also under mot rules even if we suspect dpf been cut out or gutted but can't see it we have to pass it.
As a tech and MOT tester I support this rule.
Indeed. Anyone who thinks this is hand wringing, or anything similarly dismissive, wants to try being on a bike when some fud in a DPF deleted VW comes smoking past “rolling coal.”As a tech and MOT tester I support this rule.

What about the particulate levels on the London underground?
When I lived in London the underground was electric. When did they move to diesels?https://www.ft.com/content/6f381ad4-fef7-11e9-be59...
Diesel cars with cut out dpfs are surely now a tiny minority that if public health really is a concern there are tangible things that can be done like banning smoking.
Like someone said, the problem is solving itself as electric cars become more accessible. But once they become mainstream the tax machine will put them under the microscope and nit pick the absolute minutae in order to show the public they are now the new health concern.

How that idiot keeps being voted in I don't know, other than tribalism. I doubt he even knows where Huddersfield is.
So someone who want's to stop exhaust emissions poisoning your air is an idiot?Ivan stewart said:

You can get smoke and have DPF still working.
