What is going on with these Vantage lights, man...

I have a 2007 V8 Vantage. One of the headlights is flickering...some of the tail lights are also flickering sometimes...Every now and then I get a dash warning about a blinker...

I can't seem to figure out a pattern...Anyone know what's up?

It doesn't seem like I can just replace these bulbs and be on my way, and replacing entire tail light assemblies seems like a lot for flickering...I read somewhere that there's a computer involved??

Forgive my ignorance, but what can I do about these lights and how painful should I expect it to be...?

Arright, so it looks like the front lights are either a bulb or ballast—I can handle that.

From what I've read, the rear taillights are a single sealed unit that was designed to be replaced completely in the event of failure? Wow.

Is there no way to avoid spending $1-2k on new tail light assemblies...? The flicker ain't that bad...

From the symptoms you describe and with no direct knowledge I wondered if your rear light problem might be a poor earth? The alternative that springs to mind is your rear lights have a water leak (a common problem) that is affecting the internal circuitry.

I'm no expert on this (well apart from having dismantled and remantled a DB9 unit), but a flicker logically sounds to my untutored ears like a dodgy connection. It could be worth pulling the unit out, wiggling everything about a bit (technical term) and reassembling.

Wow, I am aghast at the construction of these taillights...Really seems like a couple LED bulbs and reflectors would have done the job just fine.

It’s a leap of faith the first time you heat the lights up in the oven, but once you’ve done it once….

Re-sealing is definitely a better option than drilling holes. You can get a much better result than the original Canadian (?) manufacturer.

Agreed. Complicated isn't always best, in fact it's often worse. I saw the back of an XK rear lamp and it seemed so sensible by comparison!
