Bit of advice needed - Cupra 300

Hi all I’m desperate for some advice.
I had a 19 Cupra 290 that went back in June to the lease company and ever since I’ve been itching to get back into one.
I’ve been looking at 300’s on an 18 plate primarily because they were the ones to have the virtual cockpit and no GPF.
I’ve found one which has a decent spec:
- heated seats
- pan roof
- seat sound
- reverse camera
It’s a private seller who’s got it up for £22,895. It’s done 37k and has full history. It’s just had a major service incl diff, DSG box and brake fluid change.
It’s not had a new thermostat housing which is a common fault on these. But then again, why replace something that isn’t faulty.
My issue is, I’m unsure on if the price is correct for a) a private sale and b) the mileage.
I’m in two minds as the spec is pretty ‘uncommon’ when scouting AT.
I’ve been to view the car in person and it’s fairly tidy, just the odd stone chip. However the rear pads are low and the front tyres are getting low too. I’ve carried out a vcheck and all is fine on that front.
The seller would not budge below 22,500 although I still think this is somewhat high.
Can anyone chip in and give me some advice? I’m useless with this type of stuff.

Having had a brief scan on AT, the price doesn't appear all that unreasonable? I saw a few at 19/20/21k with might not be a good spec.
You need to work out how much the desired spec is worth to you, and if you are willing to push the budget slightly to get what you want.
Forget about rear pads, cheap items to replace (although personally it would irritate me). Front tyres more so, but how bad are they? Have you tried bidding him an offer taking this into account?

It does sound like he’s looked after it well, with spending £709 on the recent major. You need to work out how much the desired spec is worth to you, and if you are willing to push the budget slightly to get what you want.

I had a Cupra 290 DSG Black edition in 2016, It went back in 2018 and every day I miss it!! I keep looking at the estate version with 4 drive..
Shows how the market has changed for used cars, I was offered mine for £17k by the lease company, 2 years old and 11k miles!
I saw it for sale about a few month later in Manchester and it had had the full Halfords job done on it, extra wings, black stripes, I was gutted!!

What do you want to pay for the car?
It just comes down to the deal. Buyer says 22500 and not a penny less. He's obviously confident it'll sell for that so is perfectly entitled to stick firmly to his guns. If you think its only worth say 20k and are happy to lose out on the car then walk away and leave your offer with him. If it fails to sell he might come back to you, or maybe not.

If you add ‘heated seats and seat sound’ to AT search only two more come up. The one you’re looking at is a fair bit more and the others are from dealers with the ‘security’ that brings. One is a 3 door so presumably that’s not what you want. You’re then left with the Carshop one which doesn’t mention ‘full service history’ - presumably why it’s there and not at a main dealer. Did the private seller seem decent? Seems to be a few cars at his premises?

Sensibly and not using any of the performance can be up to 45mpg, drive it properly and I've had an average trip as low as 9mpg.
For me over 2 cars, 4 years and 40k miles it's 23mpg average.
Plus 5 pairs of front tyres and 2 sets of rears, only 2 services on the long life schedule at around £260 each.

That average is lower than what I got long term from my MK7 Golf R, but I guess it’s all down to the type of driving.. worst I saw in that was ~12ish on a trackday.Sensibly and not using any of the performance can be up to 45mpg, drive it properly and I've had an average trip as low as 9mpg.

I went for a run in the highlands with one of my friends in his MK7 GTI (running c330bhp) where it managed exactly double the mpg my Subaru managed and we weren’t hanging around either, was 17mpg vs 34mpg from memory. I was really impressed when he showed me.
I didn't think you could get the SEAT Sound on 2019 model? From what I've read in my recent hunt for one, didnt they switched to Beats Audio briefly and then removed the option to upgrade audio?
At that price I think I'd reduce my spec list a bit sad buy a 4Drive. Cazoo have one in your budget albeit on a 68 plate. They do lowball a bit on PX though.
Personal preference, but having owned both 2wd and 4wd models the latter makes much better use of it's power (especially if it's mapped) and holds value better too.
