A Ford Kuga has come up locally, 2010 model with 150k miles on the clock. Priced at just under £3.5k.

It has the 2.0 tdci engine, the Cambelt was apparently done at 118k and has fsh.

Only advisory on the last mot was play in steering rack inner joint.

Reckon it's worth a punt?

The 2.0 TDCi Duratorq engines are pretty good as they were codeveloped with Peugeot's DW10 HDi engine, and Peugeot actually know how to make diesel engines.

Providing all those previous owners have properly looked after it and given it fresh oil every year or 12,500 miles, whichever comes first and not done short journeys that knacker the DPF, EGR, exhaust, turbo, etc, it should be able to last to 200,000 - 300,000 miles.

One problem might be that the DMF is probably due for replacement - they last around 150,000 miles. Looking at around £650 for replacement at an indy or £1000 at a main dealer.

Have a proper check of the electrics. Sensors in particular - we had a 14 plate Kuga for about 3 years and it was constantly in and out the garage.
