Playing Jacinda’s speeches would be more effective.

I don’t agree with their cause, but I’m disappointed the protesters didn’t respond with RATM’s Killing In The Name.

It's a 'thing'.

In 1992 I passed through Guangzhou, at a point were people were nigh on killing each other to board trains to Shenzhen where the government were giving away free shares (or something like that).

Thousands of people had arrived in the city to get their chance. Picking my way over people, people, everywhere, some clearly (very) down on their luck, camped out in front of the station.

Richard Clayderman was playing on the PA system. WTF? Whether this is the norm in China, or to quell protest, it was utterly surreal.

"Hell" by the Tiger Lillies might be a marginally less cruel instrument of torture than anything by James Blunt, although after the third consecutive playing of the track I'm finding the kazoo solo makes me pine for some waterboarding and something vile involving a car battery.

They tried that one too, on repeat for about 15 minutes apparently! I saw a bit of someone's livestream of it, the crowd of protestors were just having a good laugh and dancing away.

Preferable to the police violence they tried last week anyway, even if it is a pretty childish response thats unlikely to achieve anything.

The protests could be over already if politicians climbed down from their ivory tower to talk to people and acknowledge their concerns.

President Noriega of Panama? Played heavy metal at high volume. Doesn't sound too bad to me.

God love his surgically enhanced face, but Bazza can write a decent melody.

How about The Smiths, their tuneless, miserablist dirges are legendary for inducing torpor
and ennui.
