2018 DS3, 1.6 HDI, Prestige, 16k miles.

Hello, thanks for reading. Car has developed an intermittent Automatic Braking Fault warning on first pulling away on start up. If I stop and cycle the ignition, it clears. It has only started doing this recently during the cold, wet days and doesn't seem to do it when warm and dry - although I could be wrong.

In stop start traffic, the distance warning sometimes comes on when stationary or moving slowly, but I'm not sure if that works on the windscreen laser / radar sensor or the parking sensors?

Car is a repaired CAT N and was repaired in July last year - See image of the damage (Visiting insurance damage assessor said it would have been repaired if not for COVID). Headlight, bumper and wing replaced.

I was basically just wondering if there are any sensible tests I could try and home to fault find?

I've removed and cleaned the windscreen sensor and the window itself, I've bought a new behind bumper loom and 2 new sensors, just in case thats the issue. (I tried to remove the bumper, but couldn't get the clips off the wings/arches).

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Can you get an obd logger? Some even connect to your phone so you can see what’s going on. Plug it in and wait for it to go wrong.

Do these have a bumper radar sensor or a screen sensor?

If bumper, was it replaced?

a generic cheap st obd tool won't be of any use for anything outside of engine stuff.

He will need a proper scan tool to interrogate other modules on the car, or something aimed specifically at that vehicle, which will cost more money

Who/where did you buy the car from ?....as it could appear it has not been repaired correctly. If this is one problem, there could be others.

That said, it is french...so faults just randomly appear at all times. But a good first step would be to whoever "repaired" it.

The radar / laser is windscreen screen mounted.

The bumper was replaced with a used one - it was cheaper than a repair and paint.

It was repaired shortly after the knock and then independently inspected by a dedicated crash inspection company before it was MOT'd, as the my insurance provider required it before they would insure it again.

It's driven faultlessly since the repair - until now, 8 months later. The only thing that's changed, is the weather.
I'll get it booked into a Citroen Dealer, see what they can come up with.

I was just curious if this was a 'thing' they sometimes do. A Google search comes up with lots of other brands, makes but I cant find a Citroen / DS3 issue, yet.

Check the screen aperture it uses in case there is muck etc in the window.

Are you certain ? Typically they are located behind bumper and need recalibrating after an accident
