Possibly against my better judgement, I bought a neglected, MOT expired E60 last week for £1000. 147,000 on the clock.

Imediately I dropped it off at a friends garage to get it through a MOT, I noticed that both front springs were snapped and rear tyres were so worn on inside, they were close to blowing out...

New springs fitted, 2x part worn bridgestones fitted and fresh MOT obtained. £310.
Angel Eyes were out, new LED Bulbs £17. Oil and filter from Euro Car Parts £27.
£1354 total to date. No lights on dash, drives really well. Seems possibly down on power? 50+mpg no bother.

M Power number plate holders for the bin!

Towbar fitted- probably get removed and sold. Straight piped exhaust, which thankfully is quiet.

Interior is nice and solid, I don't know why these get stick for that. The seats are very comfy.

Its got all the tech you need these days, factory Aux in and Bluetooth in a Shed!

Wind deflectors removed, its looking better already

Going to treat it to a wash later and assess the damage...

-40 outside temperature, the air temp sensor is gone (unless you're somewhere really cold, lol)

Looks tidy, enjoy it!

Thanks, temp sensor needed!

I gave it a good external clean and bit of polish this afternoon.
Chips and small scrapes touched in.

Suprised at how well it came up. Carbon Black is a fantastic colour- really dark blue.
Bodywork issues to contend with:
-Front bumper alignment and crack by PDC sensor
-Dent and clear coat peel on rear quarter
-Remove towbar and refit rear bumper

That looks ok that!

Bargain motoring in a decent enough car; shame it's no heated seats...

Has somebody programmed the indicators to stay on permanently? (I know they have orange strips on by default, I mean the actual indicators?) Someone did that to an MK5 GTI I had - US mod. Got flashed everywhere so had to turn them off, just a heads up!

Looks decent for the money. I love the Bangle era stuff.

Nice! These N47 engined beamers are cheap, I suspect as people are scared of the chains snapping, but this is a little blown out of proportion (does happen, but not as much as you would think).

Give it an immediate oil change and filter, then there after every 8,000 miles and cross your fingers, I've had X2 N47's and none lunched their chains.

Anyway...bargain for £1000, love the interior on these these E60's!!

Missed out on bidding on one myself recently (2007 520d) with 280,000 miles on, went for more than this!! So yes great price you got this for.

Looks pretty good for a grand.

I agree that carbon black is a great colour. I’ve never really understood the criticism of the interiors either; they’ve always seemed ok to me. The

Thanks chaps!

Yeah indicators programmed as DRLs… will de code it if I find my cable.

One bonus of this car seems to be that it has the last of the M47 engines without the timing chain issue. I’ve already changed the oil and filter.

Tidy! The 07 facelift is a sweet spot if you get the M47 engine. All the cheap ones seem to be N47 , same with all the other cheap 2.0d BMWs!

I had a facelift 530d auto , absolutely loved that car.

That's a really impressive looking car for Shed money. thumbup

And as others have said Carbon Black looks fantastic in the sun!

Having the M47 engine also means you don't have the cam-chain worries associated with the N47.

Enjoy. driving

That's top shedding, just had a look locally and the cheapest E60 with an MOT and in that decent condition is £3995 with a couple of hundred thousand miles.

M47 is a lower bork engine for shedding, but with the chain done the N47 is a much better engine.

Nice purchase OP! Sold my 2010 E61 530d recently and do miss it, was a superb car, but 6 mile commute meant it was pretty redundant for what I needed.

Oh and 1k for an LCI E60 is an utter BARGAIN.

Loving this car, drives well, cheap to run and shockingly much comfortable than the Daimler!

After not really doing much with the interior, I finally did a deep clean to remove as many traces of the 10 previous owners...
Steering wheel and rubber coated plastics were stripped, and re-finished. Seats were removed, carpets scrubbed (found £1.75 lol) and drivers seat bolster touched in. A brand new gearknob and gaitor fitted too.

During:

After:

Been fettling the front bumper fittment, I have new bumper brackets to fit when I respray the bumper. New external temp sensor fitted- no-longer -40 and new PDC sensor, so it doesn't moan everytime I start the car!

I have also made another 'investment' and applied it to the car smile
