Need a new daily/dog carrier. Estate or SUV fits the bill. Seen what looks to be a really nice 2005 X3 in 3.0d guise. Full history, 100k miles, new clutch and transfer box within the last 10k miles. Any pitfalls on these? Never owned a BMW before. Would I be right thinking it’s got the M57 engine?

Yup; M57

Make sure you've decent service history for the engine that shows its well serviced and oil has been changed regularly etc

They're solid engines and pull really well; but the oil changes are important as as the other fluids & filter changes

The X3 of that era is solid; but they are part of the Bangle cars era, so make sure there are no electrical niggles otherwise you'll be chasing your tail for years to come!

Good to know. Value? Not many for sale privately, this one is at a dealer (which I try never to buy from). Might have to this time round though.
