I was shocked to discover attitudes like the American "we'll kick their asses 'cos we're AMERICAN gawd damnit!!" along with clichés like the black gangster "yo foo - sit yer ass down and let's talk some bidness" are not at all Hollywood exaggerations and fervent stereotyping.
They are REAL and ACCURATE.
There are of course the quiet, educated and down-to-earth types, but the proportions of the former against the latter may suprise you!

It's tempting... Most yank forums are like this though, very "F@ck yeah we're Americans God-dammit". Just shows how 'european' and pleasent Madmike, Ernest, Trooper and CNH1990 are.
I'd be up for a bit of this 'Organised Chaos', I really, really would. I'm well up for giving the yanks a bit of a history lesson (they watch too many biased movies).

reminds me of an interesting conversation i had with a US collegue last night...
He started waffling about how good it was our police had finally got a 'shoot to kill' policy, and was finally tapping phones and doing things to 'protect ourselves'..
When i kindly suggested that I didnt actually approve of us British taking this american gung-ho approach to policing, and that in my humble opinion, we were tackling the problem the wrong way - he was almost offended...
So, i just reminded him that london has survived the Blitz, 20 years of the IRA and the last thing we needed was to be taking advice on homeland security from the country that trains 75% of the worlds terrorists in its universities...
He started waffling about how good it was our police had finally got a 'shoot to kill' policy, and was finally tapping phones and doing things to 'protect ourselves'..

Where did PC start? If America is so free, how come you aren't allowed to smoke in the majority of California? Doesn't sound very free to me.

OK here goes.....God warned Noah of a great flood that was heading his way. He told Noah to build an Ark and gather all the animals in pairs and prepare for the flood. This Noah done and when the floods came, Noah, family and animals sailed off safely. Trouble was, after a few days then weeks, the stench of the animal dung was awful. Great big piles of elephant sh!t, gorilla sh!t etc., was proving too much and weighing the Ark down. Noah had to do something. In his infinite wisdom, Noah has to shovel for days, the bigest, smelliest pile of sh!t ever seen by mankind, overboard....and there it stayed.... until Columbus discovered it!
