A couple of questions for anyone that has an Amazon Business account.

Did you have any issues when setting up your "trading name"

We want to sell our own products, that we design and manufacture, however, the Amazon people keep asking for proof that we are the brand?

Seem to be going round in circles as it's impossible to speak to a human, If anyone could assist it would be appreciated.

Thanks.

No issues with verifying trading name on this end, though it did take several weeks to verify our personal IDs. I'm also a private label seller.

What type of product is it?

Have you tried asking on the Seller Central message board?

Can you paste here exactly what their message is asking for?

Seller Support can be a nightmare!

Hi,

We help a lot of sellers with this. is it the brand name on the listing that you are trying to get approved?

you will struggle to list as a new brand unless you can prove either A: you have a trademark (or even a pending one), B. the products or packaging are branded.

Hope this helps but feel free to drop me a PM if you want more detail.

You need to register your brand name as a trade mark, you can then apply for brand registry which gives you access to A+ content etc.

The first step is that trade mark, once you have that it’s relatively straight forward to get up and running.

You can do it without a trademark but the product has to be properly branded - not just a sticker.

Brand registry does give you a much better listing though which helps sell more and you can only register the brand with a trademark.

Ok thanks, we have trademarks for a few products but not our actual brand name, will sort that first if that's what is needed.

If you are actually looking at doing Brand Registry, you will need an application for the visual (i.e. your logo, not the text) trademark for your brand to be lodged with the IPO.

If this is indeed what you are looking for - it didn't sound like that from your initial post, but maybe it is.

We don't know what we need, that's the issue, they won't help?

Like many companies, we have a registered official name, a trading name, and a logo.

As an example, let's say I cut down a tree and made a chair from the raw materials.

I want to sell that chair, it's mine, I made it and I can call it whatever I like.

Amazon seems to be saying "where did you buy the chair from" and "whos brand is it", they cannot seem to grasp that not everyone buys crap from china to resell.

Maybe we have just not been lucky with the support team?

Ok - so are you just trying to set up your account to start selling on Amazon, and they are refusing to validate your account and allow you to start selling without proving that you own your brand?

Or are you applying for Brand Registry, which is something you do when you are already up-and-running with your Amazon account and want to be able to enhance your listings with additional branded content? This is Brand Registry: https://brandservices.amazon.com/

It’s easy to confuse amazon customer service people, just get your account open first and in parallel trademark your brand.

Don’t pay agencies to help you !!

If you’re really stuck I use a person who’s very well connected at reasonable cost.

This is my specialty but I only advise / strategise I don’t do any donkey work.
