Hey guys

Looking to see if any one else has been in this situation before. My x3 has popped up in needs an oil change. Looking through the service requirements on the idrive it says it needs an oil change in 200 miles. I emailed my local dealership for a quote but they've emailed back saying from when it was last in (November) for some third warranty work the key read says it needs a major service aswell as yhe brake fluid was due to be changed last July. But Looking at the idrive it needs an oil change and not due the brake fluid change till July 2022.

Looking at the previous service history it had the major service In 07/20 at 43k. I had a service last 03/21 at 50k. Now it's on 59k.

Are the dealership fobbing me off or is it possible the idrive is wrong ?

Thanks

The iDrive won't say if it is a major or minor oil service, just that it needs an oil service.

Generally the difference between the two is the major service, assuming diesel, is the addition of the fuel filter and pollen/cabin filters.

When mine goes in I now buy the pollen filters and air filters form the main dealer and fit myself.

The dealer then does the service including oil/fuel filter change and updates the iDrive. I benefit from getting the pollen/air filters at a reduced price and also don't pay the labour.

Not knowing the full history of your car I would go into the dealer and ask them to read the key before you commit to anything.
