I know most of you must be aware of this news already, but what do you think the impact will be on regional stability.

Not sure as yet (Crown Prince Abdullah seems to be garnering a fair bit of support, maybe it will go smoother than anticipated), but of course it was the prospect of major upheaval at his death that was an extra reason for the US to invade Iraq...they've now got huge armed forces ready to sweep across the border and restore order if necessary...

it wont have much effect since he had already given most of the control to abdullah, when abdullah goes it will get a bit messy though, he is also quite old and with no clear next in line.

Sultan has been confirmed as Crown Prince, but obviously he is nearly as old as Abdullah. The real problems start when all the sons of Abdul Aziz are too old and the grandsons start to jockey for position.

Signs look good for now...Abdullah's got a lot of respect globally.
