Normally on a Friday afternoon it’s non stop freight trains.

Today none. Presumably the wind has stopped play.

But presumably some drivers are not where they should be, some trains stuck somewhere and loads of backlog to catchup?

How do they do this? Longer trains, more trains, more hours or just let it sort itself out?

They can't do snow or leaves so it's not surprising some wind knackers them.

Its bad enough for passenger trains. On our local line a train was stuck at our station for 9 hours. The original crew were replaced by one sent down by taxi after 5 hours. They'll try and get as much sorted overnight as possible, but yes they'll be shifting crew around as much as they can

Next door neighbour drives for SWR and says they’ve got stock and crews all over the place now. They’re not risking getting crews home by road either.
He spent an entire shift watching TV in the depot messroom yesterday as his intended train was stuck somewhere between Southampton and Waterloo.

Trains are not particularly good at stepping over fallen trees

As this thread title is so general, interested readers may well be wishing to attend this event on the Great Central Railway March 19/20th.

We showcase how the railways kept the nation moving during the age of steam, in an interesting and varied event.

Five steam locomotives, one diesel loco, and our Diesel Railcar are all due to be in action. Expect a variety of working railway demonstrations, intensive timetable and variety of freight trains.

Expect to see a very busy timetable, with passenger and goods trains, along with a series of interesting demonstrations, cameos, and reenactment as we show how the railways kept the nation moving during the age of steam.

The event features:

- Five steam locomotives, one diesel loco, and our Diesel Railcar.

- Railway Reenactors

- Busy Timetable of Passenger and Goods Trains

- British Railways Road Vehicles

- Wagon Loading/Unloading including use of BR Diesel Crane

It's in the middle of something and on a railway, that's for sure. And possibly in Leicestershire spin

But luckily I have Google fitted to my PC so I can reveal: https://www.gcrailway.co.uk/railways-at-work-gala/
