Just wondered if anyone knew why swapping the router was so easy?

I have FTTP and on taking the old router out, put the new one in for 'digital voice' thinking I would then have to get all devices to see the new router since it has a new name and password. No need, all devices still saw the original router name and stayed connected.

I was surprised.

Was the old router still on the default SSID and WPA password? Possibly BT have a record of this and remotely provisioned them on to the new router when you installed it?

What SSIDs are visible now?

I just had to change my router as well

Although it turned up out of the blue with no explanation as to why they're sending me a new one.

Had to change new SSID to match the old one as it was non-default.

Oddly the new router seems worse in some way as I'm seeing stuttering / buffering on Netflix which never used to happen. This is on a Fire TV connected by cable as well.

BT have also sent a "returns" bag which I assume is for the old router, but I might send the new one back as I don't use the landline anyway.

Yes, the default SSID and password were unchanged. I can see the new and the old.

If you don't bother with the land line then not sure of the benefit of changing. The only difference is the addition of a green socket for the new phone. You can have a new cordless one for free. You keep paying the monthly line rental though.
