Yeah I like the colour.. black or silver wheels would look good with the colour... only thing I'm wondering is what happens to prices when supply comes back.. I think 10k could drop off immediately...

Looks amazing, though I’d be changing the wheel colour.

Only you know if you can stomach the depreciation. I think we all know the used car market is due a correction, and big BMW’s aren’t known for holding their values!

I've been thinking that but I don't think the manufacturers will let it happen. Why sell more cars at a lower margin.

By limiting supplies they don't need to offer big discounts and retained values on used cars are higher.

I bought my 640d GC at just under 3 years/24k miles from a BMW dealer a couple of weeks before the first UK lockdown and it had lost close to £50k.

I can't imagine that dealers want to go back to that kind of depreciation.

Car manufacturing is about volume.

I highly doubt the 640d had lost £50k to the original owner or purchaser.

Everyone knows bmw list prices are filed under fiction. List on my 640d was £77k. I bought it at 6 months old apparently worth £32k less...reality is most were sold with between 20 to 25% discount, so the loss is likely more like £10 to 16k.

I agree with what you are saying but the discounts on new cars isn't there anymore.

Even if mine had been sold with a 20% discount when new it still lost a shocking amount in 3 years where as the 8 series don't seem to be doing that.

It is but have any car manufacturers reported losses due to not being able to supply the cars?

My point was that they can sell the cars without the discounts and possibly not lose out.

Dealers need the volume for their maintenance side of their business. I imagine manufacturers do well from that to in terms of parts etc.

Also car manufacturers probably make as much if not more out of finance as they do out of producing the cars.

I'm confident manufacturing levels will be back at pre covid times as soon as they can be. I dont see manufacturers suddenly deciding to make less cars.

Yeah 340Nhp and 500nm torque... this thing is rapid.. and does offer economy.. The sound is obviously lacking but BMW do artificially pipe sound in and honestly it isnt that bad...

Dont get me wrong I want to the v8... but its double the running costs..

It is, coast2coast 840i, okay not a D, 16% off in under 2 minutes....

AUC on bmw's has always been a sticking point because the moment finance is included the APR rate means the new car tended to be cheaper once various financial incentives are included. It is the delivery time that is shafting it all.
