Bit of tech help?

Hi hope you guys could point me in the right direction . My ignition light has come on and the battery light glows dimly. Have new battery and the alternator produces a healthy current . Me thinks the rectifier might be ffut.But with the weather the way it is i was hopeing some one could tell me the location and may be where i could get replacment (whats it off ?)as i might just drown trying to find it my self British summer Mmmm . 100A fuse? mine breaks every couple of years or so.

Sounds like the regulator diode gone. If the ignition light goes out when the alternator is disconnected then a new regulator is easy to fit, two screws on the back of the alternator and a wire or two to disconnect.

If you can, measure the current drawn from the battery without anything switched on (a clip-on ammeter is best).

Anything more than 0.2A probably means a u/s diode in the rectifier pack (last dodgy one I saw drew 6A IIRC).

You can double check by disconnecting the alternator and rechecking the current.
