Hi all.

My new company is track car solutions ltd.

ideally i'd like to have the .co.uk and .com domain names, but hey-ho someone registered both these names only a month ago (call me paranoid, but ... )

when you go to *whois* it says ddsmith, owner chooses not to release details ..

so is there any way of finding out who actually owns the names? the .co.uk implies someone in the UK .. but seeing as I have the company name track car solutions i can't think why anyone else would want that domain name? ;)

so .. how can i get those domain names, or find out who's stopping me from having them for my own company?

many thanks, Joo.

I would get the .net address registered and start off with that, then go through the nominet dispute resolution service, to see if you can grab the .co.uk (and whatever the equivalent is for the .com).

If you registered the company before the domains were registered it will probably help, but the fact that the domains don't have proper websites, just holding pages, should also be in your favour.

Whenever we've had problems like this in the past we had a big legal team to set on the registrant, but I would have thought that this will be an open and shut case.

I'd be surprised if there weren't a number of members her e that had gone through something similar in the past.

Ah, the .com has a lot more information.....

I'll not post it here, in case it causes any issues, but have a look.

www.dnsstuff.com/tools/whois.ch?ip=trackcarsolutions.com

If you want the email address, gimme a shout. The mobile phone number is on there.

oh, and given the email address, you might want to talk to: www.pistonheads.com/members/showProfile.asp?memberId=12693

If you own Track Car Solutions Ltd. then you can register trackcarsolutions.ltd.uk as Nominet require you to provide the company registration number when registering the domain.

This is what I had to do for my company (www.coruscant.ltd.uk)

Erm, just to set the record straight here ,to avoid further paranoia.

We (me and a couple of Partners(Ph'ers) have got some TVR/TRACK related venture ongoing - you will see the fruits of it on the Track, and no doubt PH, soon enough.

We have discussed and registered quite a few different names ,one of which was trackcarsolutions.

We'd allready decided on a much more apppropriate name and it became apparent that joospeed had began calling himself trackcar - no big deal not really a name we were too bothered about.

If Julian wishes to own these domains , well ,that can be discussed further - In Private.

The're really is no Machievelian plot.

Car ? , Track ? , Solution ?

At some point more than one person's going to use these in conversation - especially as me and my partners spend innordinate amounts of time around Tracks,in workshops , and sometimes coming up with Solutions.

Chill guys.

Thats cool

I've had to investigate a number of deliberate / malicious domain squattings in the past, so perhaps I was thinking along those lines from habit.

You can also see how Joo would perhaps be a little suspicious about someone registering those domains at the same time as he registers his new company name.

Anyway, just one of those harmless coincidences, and alls well that ends well.
