Not sure where to post this?
During the recent storms I have been staring at this monstrosity at the bottom of my garden, Its the neighbours tree. In the past I have asked him to cut it back but the miserable old git does not want to know.
Now then, if that tree came down, did untold damage to my house, fences, sheds etc, who would pay out? would it be covered on a normal house and contents policy.

Firstly I'd measure how far it is from your house and check the terms regarding trees on your insurance policy. You can trim over hanging branches but you'll have to had them back.
Personally, I quite like it, helps break up the view but the immediate shade can limit growth on your side. As for liability, you'd have to show that he was negligent if it came down, so whilst it's undamaged you'd probably struggle.

Question was asked on telly last night - you'd need to claim off your own house insurance if it falls and damages your property
