V8 Vantage steering wheel lock error
Discussion
Hello!
i am having a problem with a steering wheel lock.
the car has been in our workshop for tappet shim replacement.
the engine had a ticking noise caused by one failing tappet on the right bank exhaust side.
the battery was disconnected as was the engine ecu.
after everyting is put back together, the steering wheel lock is blocked.
the ecu slot will not turn red neither with glas or plastic key.
the info display states 'steering wheel lock error - dont start' - see picture.
i did a little research and found references to the tracker module being the cause of many errors.
with the steering lock in place and the ignition white there must be something wrong with the immobilizer.
we dont have access to amds as we are a hyundai workshop. the car belongs to the owner.
to get the car onto a trailer and to an aston workshop, the steering lock must be released.
is there a way to release steering wheel lock manually?
thanks in advance.

Not sure this helps previous post on PH back in 2018 but no reply as to if it worked.
Is the steering "loaded" against the lock, its difficult to explain but if you had just manoeuvred into a parking space and were holding the wheel against the the power steering then switched the key off the steering lock will be trapped against the notch in the column,
if you grasp the wheel and try and turn it one way it will be solid, the other way there will be some slight give, this is unloading the lock, while you have it like this try and start it

Thanks for the idea. We have tried pushing ecu through to Start with slight turn Right and left of the steering wheel. There is no sign or sound of the locking pin moving. The steering column lock seems non functional. Only way to getting the car on a Trailer is with working steering. Its no fun.

We fixed it. Plugged in a foxwell Scanner. Steering Wheel lock Module did Not respond on can Bus. Traced the wiring (Jaguar Color Coding) and found bad contact from connector to Front fuse box (Jaguar Logo on backside). After clearing the dtc the steering Wheel lock opened and Engine started.
