RESULT! Just got 25 mpg out of my 500!!

As the thread title says! Just filled up with 275 miles out of a tankful and got a gnat's over 11 gallons in.

I have been running on motorways and A-roads, and for some reason, barely encountered any slow-downs or jams. I have admittedly not been hooning it, but just driving normally, between 70-80.

It just shows what's possible!

Blimey. Did you put a tartan rug on the rear parcel shelf and suck travel sweets / Werther's Originals in order to achieve that?

Best tank average I have achieved in 3 years of ownership is 18mpg.

Got 24mpg in my Grif once ... commuting .. steady 60-70mph on motorway.

Now it works out at around 11mpg, 'cos the speedo only works half the time!

I haven't a clue what i get, I just get in press the loud peddle and feed the beast when it needs it.

Honestly not showing off but I have nevereven considered what mpg i get but didn't realise that i hadn't thought about until reading this thread!

Life's too short to count the cost of this much fun.

similar with a 400

ran up from norfolk to the north east at the weekend.
31(ish) mpg up
21(ish) mpg over the dales in torrential rain
return leg - not filled up yet but I expect quite good

seems it varies a lot

From a 400 (93 vintage), 24/28 running A/B roads. 28/31 motorways.

However, try a track day, hood up about 9 mpg and hood down about 8.9 mpg............

I can get 30mpg out of my 500. The Tornado chip helped a lot.

It's very dull work though!
