Responses to posts please

Hi,

Is there a means of upping the idea to website management about the need to have a report that shows what has been responded to when we post on here? I think to date this is the only website I have been on that doesn't have this feature and on topics like the USA,Ukraine, Russia thread, there are like ten pages to scroll through between visits (last time I was on it at lunch time today) to see any responses, I don't have ten minutes per thread to waste to find these so I just don't get to see any feedback from others on my ideas...

You want to be notified each time a reply is posted to one of your posts? So each time you're quoted you get a notification?

I would be quite confident to say it's unlikely to happen but I will flag this to ask.

Why not? Seems to be an easy thing, on vbulletin forums I used to frequent this was a feature

If "user" = quoted - Send Email to "user"

Before it was changed, you post was highlighted blue when quoted, as well as in the original post.

This was possible then, so why not now?

I assume it will be limited by the software the forum runs on, but as said, I will flag it to ask.

Thanks for flagging – it's a good idea and like you say, something available on other off the shelf forum solutions. As PH is entirely custom built, sadly it's not something we can just switch on, but I've added it to the features wishlist.

I can't give any timescales I'm afraid as we're currently working through a backlog of bug fixes and other upgrades, but consider it noted!

Yes well I don't want an email just an alert, the problem like I say is on a busy thread you have to spend a lot of time finding your post and then reading through a lot of posts before completing the thread, when you might only be interested in a response specifically to your post.

That was some client-side script written by a PHer which presumably has been lost.

In a similar ish vein perhaps 'OP posted' notification could be added to the wish list.
Having to work through pages of replies to find there has actually been no meaningful update from the original poster gets more than a bit tedious depending on how the discussions have developed
