A thought I had today - all these extra weapons that are being given to the Ukrainians, probably without any checks. What is the likelihood some of them end up in the black market in Europe, and eventually make their way to the UK for organised crime? Maybe EE states are already awash with weapons and the extra being pumped into this war won't really make a difference, but I did wonder.

I guess very few will as the Ukrainians need every weapon they can get their hands on and will most likely use them against the Russians.

I was watching the news this morning and it was saying civilians are being given AK47s and I wondered where are they coming from? Stockpile? Poland? The A Team van?

Reminds me of Anders Brevik's trip to Prague to buy guns. He spent several days, gave up and got a licence back home instead! He said he felt safer in Prague than Oslo (although apparently due to "basically no Muslims" being there):

I assume a big stockpile, they mentioned 18,000 guns which is probably an amount you'd expect a country like Ukraine to have kicking around. I wondered if we sent them any small arms, but I'm not sure if we'd have anything useful spare? Maybe some hand guns?

A great number will still exist after the conflict is over.

Like when the West gave Stinger missiles to the Mujahedeen?

We could have just left Ukraine without any, I guess...

I found this article from a few years ago, that it was an issue post the last conflict as well.
