Budget Home Printer Recommendations Please?
Discussion
Morning All,
I need to replace our home printer and am looking for suggestions please? Not subjected to heavy use, probably about 10 pages a month in fact!
Criteria as follows: Inexpensive to buy, no ink subscription programmes, able to print the occasional photo and absolutely definitely not f
king HP.
Epson xp-2100 is looking good so far.
Thanks!

Do you plan on printing many colour documents? I'm asking because for very low usage I've found a black and white laser printer (ie this Brother for £100) plenty good enough and just use an online printing service for any photos that need printing.
Obviously that may not suit your needs, but I was in a similar position and found it a good solution.

My Canon Pixma MG3650S has been pretty good.
B&W and colour
Scanner is good enough
Wifi
Automatic 2-sided printing
You can use it as a standalone photocopier. There is no memory card slot but the wireless negates the need in my case. I have printed from Windows, Linux and my Android phone without any issue. It just lives in a cupboard and all you have to do to print is stick some paper in it and hit Print. The paper goes in the front and back out the front so not much space needed.
When the token drop of ink they gave me with the printer ran out, I bought a set of high-capacity carts for £45. It allows aftermarket ink - preventing this has put a few brands on my "do not buy" list in the past.
£40. Added bonus I was able to just walk over to Argos and get it a few minutes after ordering.

I would be the strong anti-thesis to the above. I had a Canon Pixma MG3650S before getting the Brother laser jet I have now and it was a hateful piece of tech that rarely worked. AirPrint was a nightmare and very flaky. Every time I went to use it would run many clean/test routines leaving the ink empty. I eventually threw it in the bin when I couldn't take it anymore.B&W and colour

The laser however works seamlessly, every time no matter how long its left for.
For colour prints I head to the local library and do the odd sheet at 10p a go.
