Speaking for myself and (I believe) others on PH, the half of me that is "Yank" does not see this as bashing. Rather it is an opportunity to set straight certain things are being assumed to be fact.
No bashing at all. The "Scot" in me would see it the same way if an American assumed that all Scotsmen wore kilts and played bagpipes. My uncle doesn't even own a kilt ffs (and don't even get me started on his bagpipe playing
).

We have a rather charming American girl at work at the moment (from Colorado I believe ) and I take great pleasure in the fact that she now drinks pints of english beer. A fondness for Fuller's - a beer from Chiswick, London. A lovely pint.
Now we have to ween her off Hamburgers, Pizza and chicken and onto Fish and chips, yorkshire pudding and tripe

I also find 'Yank bashing' very tiresome. If you look at any country in the world, you can find people who are easy to target for their ignorance, stupidity, attitudes, whatever...and as a very populous country, America therefore has a fair few of them; but I don't believe in any greater percentage than most countries.

I think the irony is that all the Americans i've met have never bashed anyother country. other than France of course.
and lets face it - who doesn't bash the french? we can hardly pretend we are are high and mighty on that score since its a national sport.
