Another service in 600 miles?

Hi

Just had an oil service done this morning at 18000 miles. I've been driving this afternoon and the car now tells me my next oil service is at 18600 miles....

That cant be right can it? Have the same oil service done again in 600 miles? I think the BMW specialist probably didn't update the details or something. Anyone had that before?

Does it say "at" or "in" ?

Mine tells me how many miles to the next service with a date not the mileage it needs to be serviced at.

Could it be something like brake fluid needing changed?

Ive just uploaded a pic to show what it says.. So does that mean in another 18000 miles the oil service will be due or is it saying when my car reaches 18,641 miles?... if its the latter it cant be correct since I just got the service done this morning and I'm 600 miles away from that figure.

Nope it’s definitely the engine oil it’s talking about.

That is saying you need your next oil service when you have covered another 18641 miles from now or by March 2024, which ever comes sooner. It does say when the stated distance has been covered which is the 18641 miles.

As already said this mileage will now count down until you reach 0 miles to the next service.

I had my last oil service about 3 months ago, then the car said I needed an Inspection in March this year which I was a bit confused about.

It turns out the Inspection it was referring to was actually the MOT which I had last week.

I had this last month. I had a service done at a main dealer and then less than two months later the service light came on. I booked it in for the MOT and asked why it also needed another service. Turns out it was the just the MOT.

Doesn't seem 100% obvious what that means, except to a programmer-type thinking. Better would be to put it on 2 lines as:

Due in March 2024
OR
Due in 18641 miles

Literally just back from the garage today about this. Turns out you can change that date yourself.
