I have a Merecdes Citan van, which is of course really a Renault Kangoo.

The van has been absolutely flawless but I have spotted an odd quirk.

If you stop and the engine cuts out on this eco-crap, you can't alter the headlamps between high & dipped beam (or vice versa) until you restart the engine.

I put it into Mercedes today, as the vehicle is still under warranty, & it smacks of a software issue to me.

I've just picked it up, they told me it was the battery ( I did express surprise to the young lady on the service desk, but she assured me that was the fault) ,and they have indeed fitted a new one, the only problem being the fault/issue is still exactly the same.

I've let them know, which of course means I have to book it in again, get a lift back from the garage etc etc.

Anyone any clue ?

Hello chaps.

I have a Renault Kangoo van, badged as Mercedes Citan, the vehicle is still under warranty.

I have discovered a small issue with the light control module that doesn't occur on my mates Kangoo.

If you stop the vehicle for any reason and the engine cuts on on the ECO mode, you can't alter the beam of the headlights until you cause the engine to restart.

I took the van to the local Mercedes commercial centre (who have been servicing the van for me), on the first occasion I think they misunderstood me and just replaced the battery, on the second occasion they had the vehicle for a week and then returned it saying Mercedes say it is "quirk" not a fault.

When I pointed out that the Renault badged version doesn't have this fault their reply is you have a Mercedes not a Renault !

I have contacted Renault, and they say their hands are tied because of the badges, it has to be dealt with via Mercedes, who are of course telling me to clear off.

Anyone have any advice ?

The impact of the fault was a blinded driver on the first time it happened and now I have to remember to dip the lights before I stop, or override the ECO mode, so nothing major.

Why can't Mercedes just update the software instead of declaring a quirk because they don't want to fix it ?

A little further on as Mercedes are now saying they aren't going to fix it.
