Aston not starting first time

Hi All, has anyone had an issue with their Aston not starting first time. My coil packs failed and had them replaced and the engine is running great but I have this annoying issue that presented itself just before the coil packs and spark plugs and seals were replaced but that hasn’t fixed it.
When starting the car first time it will crank (battery is new and fine) and it will crank for ever and not start. As soon as I stop and try again instant start.
If I try the first time for 1/2 a second and then try again it will start straight away (more out of embarrassment this had become my routine)
I am thinking it has to be fuel related. Any ideas ???

I'm no mechanic but if fuel is there second time of Turning it over then I would assume its there first time of asking too.
The only time I had issues starting any car which turns over and sometimes fires and sometimes doesn't or would only fire up after doing certain specific things (like your having to) it was on both occasions traced back to a top dead centre type sensor.
Could be worth checking it out

To me that sounds electrical. Something is not being connected/making contact on the first try that is on the second. This is reinforced by the fact it's the number of tries and not the duration of the cranking.
Do you have the key dock? Are you doing anything between the two cranking sessions, like moving on the footbrake (or clutch, for a manual)?

Not doing anything different. It doesn’t matter if I prime the accelerator before hand (not even sure if that does anything or not)
The Aston mechanic said he had seen it once before and wanted to fit a wider fuel feeder pipe in the fuel tank. But it’s been fine for years. Started on the button and the pipe was the same diameter then
