Is an Insurance backed Warranty worth the money ?
Discussion
POrsche GB tell me they will not issue a warranty on a 993tt once it has had its 9th birthday even if it gets the all clear on the PPI
So what of the over the counter options - are any of them worth the money bearing in mind the "wear and t'" exclusions and that I'm talking 9 year old porc....?
I would welcome thoughts from those with experience of making claims - a couple of indies have said they have had such pain with them that they now opt to stand behind their cars for a short time limited guarantee period - that and earlier threads make me a shade uneasy about paying out for a porous warranty to support a private purchase

Don't bother wasting money and causing stress.
Learn a bit of DIY and get to know some proper independant specialists...
It took me two weekends to change the 6 spark plugs on a 993tt, that was after buying every tool in the shop.
My hands have healed nicely now but hey what fun.
Brakes are easy, so is suspension, exhaust and turbo easy to get to.
Its the top end rebuild that comes first and probably a diff rebuild if its been tracked....
Insurance won't pay for any of that... so whats the point ?

Well, that's not quite true. There is are 2 warranty levels issued by Porsche GB. Can't remember the names exactly but the first is available for cars up to 10 years old and the second is for cars from 10 years old up to 15 years old. It's detailed in the Porsche extended warranty booklet. The cover on teh seconds level isn't as comprehensive as the first but still covers most of the major components iin the engine.

I was going to add this link, but too late
Incidentally, I'm currently seeing if I can get my solicitor to bully them into at least settling. So, from my experience, stay well away from third party warranties unless they give you a concrete list of what they will and won't cover, and even then think very carefully...
