This is pretty old now I think but only just spotted it on Sky.

On episode three so far and I’m really enjoying it. It’s well shot and well written and has a realism about it that I can’t put my finger on why it’s so good. Gritty and grainy filming style and portrays NYC and the issues highlighted even more after 9/11 and the generalisation of anyone from a Muslim background.

Exec producer was James Gandolfini and a great performance so far of the late Michael Kenneth Wilson.

A few familiar faces from the Sopranos and you can see and feel the influence and style from Gandolfini while showing the NYPD as a force not to be messed around and all of them at the end of their tether with long shifts, low pay and a sense of danger they all face each and every day they go to work.

So far so good. 9 shankings out of 10 discriminating typecasts.

Finished this. Really enjoyed it. Well paced and loved the grittiness.

There was a bit too much of a feeling of something missing with Gandolfini, that is to say, that you sort of felt that each of the characters were trying to act to him or his cues.

The ending was predictable but enough doubt was added to keep you guessing. The ending also laid some foundations for a second series but I don't think that is, or ever was on the cards.

Brilliant series, but seems to be little-known - It's the one I recommend to people when they ask for recommendations of something to watch, but it's often 'unavailable' on the usual sources (Sky, Netflix, Amazon etc)

Where is it currently available to watch?

As good an actor as Gandolfini was, the show wouldn't have worked half as well as it did with him in it. Turturro played the role perfectly.
