Have just put my car up for sale as I want something bigger.
Seen a few ads offering swaps, has anyone actually done this and did it work out ok?

Am open to the option as it could save searching for another car and possibly provide an option I’d not considered, but the cynic in me also thinks someone could be trying to offload a problem child.

Appreciate a straight sell would be easier, but considering options to broaden the appeal

Always thought it was dodgy myself. The people offering swaps more often than not tend to look pretty scummy

I've been offered a few swaps, and every single one has been owned by a chav without a pot to piss in, they are always knackered sheds with zero service history and plenty of 'neva bovvered me m8' faults, plus you never know if they have a logbook loan on them and there is always a major red flag somewhere along the line.

30 years ago I was selling a customised 3-ltr Capri.
The guy drove up from London to Stoke in his MK1 Golf gti and we did the swap.
Thinking it had come that far I didn't even need to test drive it.
When I drove it I couldn't get any gears lol .Turned out all the bushes were shagged in the gear linkeage.
It was a decent car otherwise.

I swapped a Cavalier LX for a Rover 216EFI (Vanden Plas no less) back in 1998 ran the Rover for two years without issues.
Swapped a Honda Hornet for a VFR800 back in 2017 still got the VFR and will be keeping it. The VFR was a bit rough on the outside but it just needed some TLC.
I did hear that the Hornet packed up two weeks later!!!!

I would do it again.
Go in with your eyes open and have a proper look.
