...dead keyfob, re-synchronise technique ?

Hi chaps.. long time no see !! ..a cange of contract job has meant I haven't posted since before LeMans ! Must try harder, and I trust I didn't miss much :silly: :)

Anyway, I'm now in Dorset and my Bible is oop north in Herefordshire, and I have a dead keyfob :rolleyes: (discovered dead on a garage forecourt in Salisbury yesterday morning.. very cool.. not.. :hehe:)

On eventual arrival Mr National Breakdown insisted on faffing about with it too, randomly pulling the batteries out of it, warming them, then putting them back in again (not sure if they went in the right way up at one stage actually) and generally proving to himself what I told him to start with.

To cut a long (and tedious) story short, I will get some new batteries later today, but assume that the fob is now no longer synchronised to the car (1997 P Plate, so I'm assuming Meta 99T (?)) so how do I re-synch the two.? Also is it likely that Mr National Breakdown will have buggered it by putting the batteries in upside down..?

Any thoughts much appreciated.

Just change the batteries (two of them in each fob). They should work OK, mine did.

Not done mine but this works on most - disconnect the car battery for half hour, reconnect, put new batteries in remote and hold button down until it goes in sync. Worth a try if you are stuck.
On Meta remote both batteries go the same way up with part number side away from remote switch.

Seconded, give him a call, very helpful chap and will talk you through the procedure over the phone.
You may need to leave him a message though and wait for him to contact you as he's often working and can't get to the phone

..is that the outside or the indside... the batteries are on the other side of the PCB to the remote switch so do you mean that the part number side is showing under the metal contact strap or against the PCB..?

I presume you have had no trouble getting batteries?

If it helps at all, you want 2x CR1220 and I bought mine at Maplins.

Yes I'm with you now thanks.. so effectively you can read a bit of the P/No either side of the contact strap if you look hard enough. Thats how I thought it went, and indeed proves that matey boy put them in upside down..

If it is of any use, the battery is also known as DL1220, ECR1220, KCR1220, BR1220, LM1220, 5012LC and CR1220-1W
Diameter 12mm, Thickness 2.0mm, Voltage 3V, Current 36mAh.

Maplin list them as being £1.99 each, but prices may vary.

I'll let you know mate.. sadly I've got to get on with some work now so I'll have to sort it out tomorrow, I've got the spare fob now so its not bed wettingly urgent.

Bleedin' MOD internet access is a bit of a pain so apologies for lack of reply to any hotmail etc for the last 2 months.. I can't access anything useful from here whatsoever other than PH.
