2000 W Audi S4 Avant

Afternoon all. I have my eye on a 2000 W S4 Avant in silver that's currently for sale at £2700 ono. It's on 122k miles and MOT until October 22. I haven't called the owner yet but let's assume there's no major problems on the horizon. It's very tatty in the bodywork dept and would require a few panels being refreshed at the body shop, and probably the wheels too. Interior looks good but is dirty and just needs a clean. It's completely original inside and out. If it was running well with no problems and tidied up what would I be looking at value wise? Theres only 2 or 3 for sale on various websites at the moment with 155k miles or more, all modified and all in the region of £9,000 to £12,000. Presuming the lower mileage on this one, original and unmodified and if it was brought back to good condition might make that at the higher end of that bracket.. or maybe more? Many thanks in advance for any answers, I'm not that knowledgeable on Audis specifically so any help would be much appreciated. Cheers.

It’s tricky. Someone looking for an unmodified appreciating classic will go for the RS4, so S4’s are always hanging off the coat tails. Whilst you’d probably see someone like 4 star classics put a 15k tag on it, they do it knowing their clients will pay a premium. If you wanted something to buy, restore and flip, I’d be doing so on the understanding 8k is about your top market. There’s very few people out there waiting to spend more so you could end up sat on it for a very long time.
[edit] the sensible option would be buy it, clean it and out it back up for 4-4.5. Easy money.

Unfortunately I missed the boat on this by one day. Sold to someone for asking price.. after the owner actually sorted the tired bodywork himself this week! Was mechanically sound apparently so a huge missed opportunity to flip for a sizeable profit. If you snooze, you definitely loose! Maybe the new owner is on here? Thanks all for your advice.
I was looking at one of these last year before used car prices went mad. It was same year, dark blue, 2 owners, cloth recaro interior, about 120k miles, lots of mechanical work done and it was on for £7.5k. It was a little tatty around the edges but wouldn't have taken much to tidy up I didn't view it in the end and went down a different direction.
A lot have been modified so finding a standard one can be tricky. I think the one I found was either on PH or car and classic.

Yup! The get it bought and worry about it after was all you needed to know.. was it advertised or local sale?Local sale initially. Car was sat in a very small village off the beaten track with an old looking hand written for sale sign in the window. Had no interest (after god knows how long like that) so put in on FB Marketplace and sold it within hours just before i called. I'd had a very busy week from seeing it on the street to phoning up so I just ran out of time... turns out was a costly delay on my part (assuming the described 'mechanically vgc' was correct of course). If only i'd walked past it the week before. Oh well, wont make that mistake a second time!
