Best gap car before new car arrives that won't lose too much

I've ordered my new car today, obviously looking at 8 months+ for it to arrive. Ideally need to get something in the meantime to see me through.

I'm looking for something for either of these scnarios:

1) A family car that is safe with isofix and can carry a good amount of stuff, not too much of a shed, that won't lose too much money in the next 8 months or so (not withstanding the possible used car drop)

or

2) Similar to the above but something I could keep longer term as the "tip car" so in this case, holding value is not critical but purchase price should be lower.

No real set budget, 20k? Maybe half that if it's a longer term keeper

i like the V70 Idea. A Toyota Rav4 might be a good shout too

Enough space for family/tip runs, reliable and seem to hold value quite well. £10 to £15k will get you a good one

I don't think many cars will lose that much over the next 8 months or so

Premium German brands that are cheap to run, low tax and ULEZ compliant will always be popular and easy to punt on, so something like one of these
