'Simple' Manchester Restaurant
Discussion
Looking for a recommendation for a restaurant in Manchester.
Taking my old dear to see a show at the Lowry on a Thursday evening but City centre would still be fine.
However she has a rather delicate stomach and only likes 'plain' food that can't give her problems - so anything particularly rich / spicy / lots of pastry etc causes her problems. She's also not a fan of Afternoon Tea so that's out.
Despite all of this I was still hoping to find somewhere a little special?
Any suggestions?!

If you're feeling generous - Hawksmoor. Effectively very posh steak and chips. The steak and wines are very very good, but you pay for it.
or The Marble Arch - traditional pub on the outskirts of the town centre (could park quite close). Things like Fish & Chips, steak and chips, mac & cheese and the most amazing Scotch Eggs.
or Sam's Chop House in the city centre - it's just reopened and I've not been since it opened but has always done proper British grub in a traditional pub environment (nice gastro pub though). Stuff like lamb chops, fish and chips, Lancashire hot pot, steak & kidney pudding and their very famous corned beef hash, which is amazing.

Is there a branch of Cote Brasserie up there? I find them to be really good, and a bit special, even though it's a chain.
Yes - next door to Kendals just off Deansgate. If you are looking for something more exotic like Indian / Chinese then you open-up a whole new vista.
