AM Wings series collection at Aerospace Bristol

I really recommend you visit the Aerospace Bristol museum before 13 March. Lined up under Concorde's wing is stunning collection of Astute Martin "Wings" series cars, kindly on display thanks to their one owner.

These include:

• DBS Concorde
• Vanquish Red Arrows
• V12 Vantage Spitfire
• V8 Vantage Blades

I visited yesterday and it's really worth the trip. The rest of the museum is worth it too

But this display is not AM-led. It's a collaboration between the collection's owner and Aerospace Bristol. That's the thing; a lot of AM's marketing and promotion is done by their enthusiastic owners...

I am so jealous, the Concorde my favourite plane ever, adding AM in the mix is pure bliss. The last picture is fantastic.

I was browsing the website; are those Concorde DBS exhausts from factory or an extra touch from the owner?

Here's a better shot of them I took of the car when it was parked up in AM Bristol a couple of months ago:



From what I understand, AM Bristol had to source this single item to add to all 10 examples when delivered from AM. It's not something the factory could do (for whatever reason), but it's such a good detail!

Mind, I only just learnt that the side strakes, machines from solid aluminium (a joint favourite detail for me) is actually made from aluminium melted down from a Concorde part:



CORRECTION: It's the paddles that are made from metal derived from Concorde parts. The side strakes are not. (Thanks Simon!)

I know that to many, such things may be seen to be contrived marketing/sales exercises, but I am a complete sucker for that sort of thing!

I do like the dbs Concorde details . There is one for sale at the moment .

I’m really happy the cars are there and being seen.

Ref tailpipes this was due to OEM testing/homologation and the cost involved in integrating a new exhaust system part on a short production run. It was simpler to add as dealer fit accessory.

The side strakes were machined from solid aluminium but this did not come from Concorde.

The shift paddles however, were made from aluminium that came from G-BOAB, the Concorde that remains at Heathrow.

Not sure it's the visuals it's meant to represent, or the emissions and burn rate/mpg

Great to see four such special Aston Martins. Really enjoyed the rest of the museum and saw three more Aston Martins in the car park. Lots of debate on the way home with my 11yr old son on which of the Aston Martin wings cars was our favourite.

I know quite a few AM owners were planning to visit over the weekend. The choice is a tough one. Personally, this is my order:

1. V12 Vantage S Spitfire
2. DBS Concorde
3. V8 Vantage S Blades
4. Vanquish S Red Arrows
