A few weeks ago one of the monkeys at Chester Zoo grabbed a seagull and smashed its head in, killing it, a video of it got onto the news sites a few days ago.

Don't watch if you don't wasn't to see a seagull becoming an ex seagull, but bloody hell!

I thought this was going to be about a simian struggling with an old outboard!

Looking at comments and article regarding the video, why is this seen as horrifying? perfectly normal primate behaviour.

Drove 8 hours to Cornwall many years ago, queued up for ages for a battered sausage and chips to have it nicked by a seagull pretty much immediately.

That's not like Disney. That's not like Disney at all.

Who'd have thought the natural world is so full of violence?

Chimps and Dolphins are the biggest dcensoreds of the animal world, they've spent alot of money getting David Attenborough to give them good PR.

To be frank.. humans can be pretty nasty too,to each other, and to many other species, so I dont feel we have any grounds to take the moral high ground with a monkey.

I more surprised by peoples surprise at the monkey frankly..

But i guess many people see cute fluffy animals and think they are actually cute..

I recommend the natureismetal instagram channel if animals being total bds to each other is your thing. Probably not one to share on a first date though.

I recall reading about a pet Chimp attacking a woman

IIRC it blinded her and bit off her fingers before trying to kill her

EDIT - Google Charla Nash if you want to see how brutal they can be
Ollie Ollerton had an encounter with one too but he was a child and got between a baby and it's mother

David Attenborough doesn't give chimps good PR. In fact, as an avid wildlife documentary watcher I'd say that no documentaries give them good PR. I think you are mixing up documentaries and PG Tips adverts. smile
