Trump in power when Russia/Ukraine kicked off

What do we think would have happened if Trump was still in power when Putin decided to break in to his neighbours garden ?

Trump seemed as crazy as Putin for impulse actions, and he also liked a bit of 'flexing'.

Would we be in a World War right now?

I think Trump would have been quite impressed by Putin's strong and decisive actions.

Say what you like about the US, but the thousands of anti tank/aircraft weapons they have sent have been absolutely pivotal to the Ukrainian defence.

Hard to say , thinking trump would have at least been able to say something meaningful to Putin unlike his comatose successor.

I don't think an invasion would've happened. The Russians regard Trump as too unpredictable. And if they'd sat back he would've done what they wanted eventually anyway and NATO would eventually fall apart.

If it had occurred Trump would probably be cheering and wearing a Z t shirt while the real adults ignored him and supported Ukraine on the quiet via Europe. Just like most other things that happened during his presidency.

I think Putin would have grabbed the Donbass without trying the rest of Ukraine and Trump would have said "not our problem".

Exactly this, as said by Bolton and others. trump tried to take the US out of Nato in his first term but was rebuked by congress, but had threatened to do it anyway if empowered by a second term.

As for what trump would have done, nothing he'd have stood back and let Putin do exactly what he wanted. He's so compromised by Putin
but all this has been discussed at depth in the trump thread, with examples and detailed links.

Trump is probably the most predictable person on the planet. Putin played him like a fiddle and Trump was drooling all over himself with flattery. Have you noticed that anyone who says nice things is his friend? Google Trump's letter to Putin from 2014, I don't think you'll be impressed.

Fiddle's are quite complex instruments that require real skill and talent to play. Putin tooted Trump like the cheap Kazoo he is.
