I have put a rivnut into my boot floor to bolt into. However due to carpets and soundproofing it’s a ball ache. It would be much easier if it was a stud poking up which I could then put a nut and washer onto. Am I ok to screw a bolt in to the rivnut from underneath? Pics which may explain, or confuse things further!

As it is now:

My proposal:

It’s for mounting one of those small race batteries in an aluminium cage. There will be four bolts holding it down. Two at the back will be into rivnuts conventionally, but the two at the front would be easier as studs. If it’s a bad idea I will persevere as it is, but I thought it was worth asking.

why not just put a bolt through the hole with nut on the inside?

Because removing the rivnut will leave a 9mm diameter hole and I need an M6 thread. I would prefer to leave the rivnut in situ.

It'll work, but a neater solution would be an m6 stud into the rivnut. Commonly used on manifolds etc, have a allen head to wind them in.

Thanks. That’s a good idea. Like this?

Bingo. Sorry i missed your reply

As those are fully threaded, you probably want to put a dab of loctite in the rivnut , saves faffing when undoing it
