AMG GTS 2016 vs M850i 2019
Discussion
I have a real dilemma at the moment and would be grateful for any insight you may have. I currently drive an AMG GTS (2016) which I love - it is a bit of a hooligan, but turns heads wherever I go. it feels amazing to drive (when the chance permits given traffic and road conditions, that is less often that I would like) very quick and planted, though I note that I tend to be easy on the off given it's propensity slip out at the back. I also find it a bit tricky getting in and out, but it is still an amazing vehicle. I've recently test driven a BMW M850i (2019) and it is gorgeous to drive - all wheel drive, bigger cabin, boot, lots of toys (HUD etc) but I feel it is not quite in the same league. It is the sensible option, but I am a bit torn at the moment, and would appreciate any views. I have a daily drive (RR sport) but what would you choose?
new model Jaguar F-Type R. Or the older SVR for a bit of a more hardcore experience.

AMG GTS for me is a much more special and prettier car.
If the situation were reversed i.e. you owning the 850 and test driving the AMG GTS I reckon you would have a similar feeling. It's the itch to change.
The only scenario I can see where it makes sense is if you already own another AMG with the same engine e.g. C63 and feel the experience is too similar.

If you've got a daily driver I'm not sure why changing the GTS for a more sensible option would appeal? If anything I'd be looking for something even more ridiculous than the Mercedes.

But, if you are bored and itching for a change..
I'm assuming a £60-70k budget.

Or if you really like your GTS but need a bit more practicality & ease of access why not go for the AMG GT:

Or whilst not packing as many ponies as the above the CLS53 AMG is a very good car & I'd seriously consider this over an 850i:

and thanks for some brilliant alternative suggestions (I'd not realised how good the F SVR was, nor how gorgeous the Maserati is) but for now I am keeping the AMG. I'd not properly driven it over winter, but now I've given it a good blast, I remember why I like it so much. Do think I owe responders here a lemonade, so if ever in the Northampton area, or thereabouts, give me a shout..
Your shopping list should be... AMG GT R, even more special and without question a modern classic:

That CLS53 is so much car for the money. Looks superb inside and out, comfortably seats 4 people and a big old engine up front. Would be all over these if requirements dictated.https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202202222...

I think Merc has BMW licked on the big car front at the moment. The S-class coupe is a peach too.
