Checking Mileage
Discussion
I'm aware you can check MOT history at .gov but do not have access to the V5E certificate so only have the MOT number, not the centre number.
The MOT history shows a discrepancy but I'm not sure and cannot find the centre until I collect the car. Would you be confident that it's a typo?
1. 74,444 instead of 7,444 is likely to be mistyped
2. The car is unlikely to have done 67k miles in 12 months
3. The driver is unlikely to have switched from <1k miles per year to >50k then back to <1k
However... the mileage is very low (seems pretty consistent each year though so it would have needed to be clocked every year for every MOT). The current owner also said he owned it for over a year and was purchased from someone in Skegness but the check I paid for says it has been registered 3 times (last in Jan 2022) and the curent owner has owned it since Jan 2022. The previous owner owned it for 17 years... Could there be an explanation for that?
The reason I'm not asking out right is because I've made a verbal agreement to buy it but he's holding it for me until 11th April when I can get the money together and gave him a £100 deposit (I can lose that if needs be). It is £3000 for a 20 year old car though only 11k miles.

We have just had a similar issue with a car we are selling.
Mot a few years ago had a typo on mileage, No issue we found the garage who did it from the v5 number, The confirmed it was a typo and customer was happy with this.
Ask the seller to contact the garage who did the mot and they should be able to clarify it
