We've secured a seasonal pitch in the New Forst running April to November. First time seasonal pitchers, anything we should be aware of? We have a Kampa air awning which I can't see working so perhaps that needs changing. Anything else?

Cheers

I'm not a seasonal pitcher, but have seen plenty over the years. As you say, many people have poled awnings, the Isabella (although pricey) seems a popular choice. They look really nice when properly, taughtly pegged, as you can take the time to do on a seasonal pitch.

Lots of people use an awning tie down strap, the Fiamma seems the most popular brand, we've got one of these on our tourer and I can confirm it will stand up to a 60mph coastal Devon storm at the end of October without flinching. I'd be inclined to fit one when not there just for peace of mind.

I often see seasonal pitched caravans with awnings covered in green mould. Probably from being left up over winter? Maybe consider taking it down at the end of summer?

I think Kampa do an all season awning fabric, but sadly my confidence in there products in recent years has taken a nosedive. Have a look at the Facebook group called 'my kampa awning leaks' . Whilst any awning has the chance of leaking it is Kampa response when shown videos of rain pouring through the roof that disgusts me, claiming it to be 'condensation'.

I too throughly recommend Isabella awnings here’s mine on the van absolutely great quality, last October South Devon winds in excess 70 mph didn’t flinch….had the storm strap on as a precaution….. So this awning we got it’s a 2020 model list price over £3k spent ages watching eBay and picked it up for £800.00……

Isabella are very good, try and get a good 2nd hand one. Or buy a Ventura awning as they are made by Isabella.

This was my set up for whenever we went away or two weeks (recently sold it all). The two annex's made a big difference...

2018/9, we had a season pitch and had our Kampa air awning up for the whole time we were there with no issues, it did lose a bit of air over the second year but a quick top up and all was good again.

We had one of these, when we had a season pitch on a site in mid Wales near the sea.

A brilliant awning for stormy conditions. Had a storm one day, most pitches lost their awnings. Ours was still standing. A must to do when you leave your awning up and go home. Put your front middle poles of awning at a 45 degree angle.

We've got a Walker for our Eriba, I second that ... has stood up to 60mph storms with no problems.

Great customer service too when we needed to replace a lost part, even though it was a used awning we bought off Ebay with no real details of the model they were happy to track it down for me and send from the Netherlands at a decent price. Would definitely buy one again if I had to, incredibly well made.

Agree with the customer services, I got in touch with them for extra poles. Had them 2 days later. They also told me to set the poles at 45 degree angle when we went home, as the pitch was very exposed.
