S4/5 3.0tfsi as a daily?
Discussion
So I'm looking for a new daily my Fiesta st is feeling uncomfortable for my 26 mile each way commute would I be mad to consider the s4/5 as a daily? Iv narrowed my search down to the s4/5 or a 3.0 tdi version of the same cars obviously diesel would have better economy but would I be missing out massively by going for that instead of the s car?
Edit:
I'm looking for a bit more comfort than I currently get and I generally have to overtake 4 or 5 times every time but if I could average 25 mpg or more I'd be happy

Assuming you do no other driving (and are reasonably light footed), you'll be filling from empty every 6 to 7 working days - if you're running on vapour, it's north of £75.00 per tank.
If you open her up a bit, you'll be visiting the petrol station much more regularly.

Have had countless new Audi and VW's and frequently have to overtake.
To be honest with you 150PS+ with DSG is more than enough for comfortable overtaking.
Current gen A5 2.0 190PS petrol was, surprisingly, an absolute peach of a car (2WD auto) - really comfortable, super smooth engine, and when not caning it, would easily see 40mpg. In general I (and the missus) really liked every A5 we had. Had two A4's and didn't like them as much for some reason.
All the quattros I've had (petrol or diesel) took a real hit to fuel economy so if you don't need the AWD and crazy performance, I'd at least consider the "non-PH" versions if you're trying to keep sensible running costs.

I have a 2015 A5 3.0TDi Quattro black edition plus. 245bhp and I average over 40 mpg. Long runs I get high 40s - that’s usually cruising at 70mph - over 500 miles on a single tank.
Obviously mpg will be less when hooning it, but it’s nice to be able to use the that extra oomph when you need it, or just fancy a blast.

I had a 2012 S4 s-tronic.
Averaged around 26mpg on mainly shortish urban journeys.
It got stolen. And recovered.
Its got plenty of power/torque for overtaking. Certainly quicker off the line than my c63.
But all in all a great family car albeit not terribly involving to drive
I can't honestly think of an Audi that is tbfAveraged around 26mpg on mainly shortish urban journeys.

I had a 2017 3.0 TFSI v6 S4. I travel further than you but my best was 43mpg, so it can do it.
Average over 30k miles was 34mpg.
Yes you can definitely overtake.
Loved that car, but gone are the days of cheap leasing.

I actually had a Fiesta ST (and still do) during lockdown as a fun wee thing to knock about in, and bought a 2018 S5 Sportback as the family car recently,
Love them both. Obviously completely different, the S5 has no problem overtaking almost anything & has quite frankly ridiculous traction in all weathers for something with 350bhp. I’ve averaged 27mpg over about 2000 miles so far. Drops like a stone in urban use, but saw 41mpg on a relaxed drive home from Penrith to Edinburgh on Monday.
