THe rolling road session at TVR craft did not go as planned.
Everything was set up, car tied down checks made then on with the power run.
Every time Alistar tried to give it some gas the bloody MIL light came on putting a stop to proceedings.

What can it be? The car runs fine, on the way home I nailed it through the gears, nothing wrong strong power all the way through the rev range and not a hint of MIL.

Has anybody got any ideas, the temp is fine everthing seems normal untill it goes on the rollers.
Any help greatly apprechiated.
Nick.

Cheers joo,
Mate when can I come up and have a run?
Maybe you could have a look over it and a power run.

yup should be technically speaking - ok, but theres always a risk that mil light is telling ya something more than just the odd tpot zapping around...

Nick, while you're up at TrackCar, get an emerald unit plugged up!

Chaps,
I have just got off the phone to TVR Craft. I wanted to talk to the dyno operator and ask him a few questions.
Most importantly was “when the MIL light came on did it have any effect on power?”
He said that at 3000rpm when it (MIL) showed there was a stuttering and no consistent power.
This is very odd, I am going to check the fault codes later on when I get home and see what has been logged.
This has really done my head in; I had visions of about 400bhp and coming home with good news about the car we all love.

Instead I now have no idea what it really makes and I have another problem to sort.
I do enjoy this car, when it’s good it’s good. But there seem to be quite a few niggles.
Yes I knew that when I got it, it seems to be daily something else plays up.

How can the car run perfectly fine during normal use and be such a pig on the rollers, I guess as Joo said if the tp’s are out then the MIL will come on, at this point is the ECU switching to limp home mode?

Maybe there was more to it, but if it's bringing the MIL light on during the rolling road you'd expect it to come on during normal driving too if it's a purely mechanical issue ..

reading the stored fault logs is a good start, also go out with the realtime data logger running and do a performance run and watch the trace to see if any readings go out of range all of a sudden.

I can't think why you would get a rolling road situation like that which couldn't be replicated out on he road itself ..

Joo,
Tell me about it. I am racking my brains have just spoken to TVR mechanic. He is also scratching his head.
I will do a run with the laptop mapping.
I will firstly check the logged fault codes.
I think I will find a AFR fault.
It is odd that the car runs perfectly fine on the road, I wonder if some how the ECU is expecting more air flow than the fan can produce?
Who knows, will let you chaps know what fault codes are logged when I get to the car later.

Just plugged in the lap top and the only fault code registered is the batery?
The graph does not go below 12.4,
would this bring up yhe MIL, I thought it was for emissions and fueling only.
Joo, I have not done the power run yet as it is lashing down at the moment, if it clears up for tonoght I will do it on the way to the Ace tonight.
Nick.
