Anyone had a VW stuck in a port waiting for microchips?
Discussion
We ordered an ID.4 a while back for my wife having been told that it was a 'stock' car for delivery in advance of our required date, of course that date is now weeks in the past and now it turns out it really wasn't a 'stock' car at all as it's sat waiting for much needed microchips somewhere - Has this happened to anybody else and they've subsequently received the car? If so how long did it take for the chips to be received and installed? (I appreciate this is a changeable situation with Ukraine etc now but be good to have some idea of other peoples experiences).
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.
I'd be surprised if it was at the port and waiting for anything. Parked up at the factory awaiting some retro-fit, or if you're lucky at the dealer waiting for some dealer-fit options, maybe. VW stopped taking orders for the base ID.4 in January, and all but one ID.3 model, because they can't / couldn't fulfil orders.
I doubt what's going on in Ukraine is really going to make the semiconductor shortage any worse, will still be looking at end 2022 for things to normalise.

I hear you, but it's what i've been told based on being assured the car was absolutely a 'stock' car that was already built. My question is if anybody else has been in the same position, been told a similar thing and subsequently got their car however long later.I doubt what's going on in Ukraine is really going to make the semiconductor shortage any worse, will still be looking at end 2022 for things to normalise.
That’s really lousy of the dealer telling you it’s a “stock” car, implying it’s ready for sale, when in fact it’s nothing of the sort, but unfortunately, not at all surprising given what slimeballs car sales people are. I’d be asking for a full refund as they are obviously full of st and thought they could pull a fast one on you. Find another dealer selling one that’s actually, physically in stock that you can see.

We have similar issues. Some cars are built and are having aftermarket radio / sat nav units fitted....Thanks in advance.
been told weeks delivery some have taken over a month and a half to arrive to us.
I dont think they have lied, They just dont have control of the situation.

Thanks, interesting to hear you're having similar problems. It's very frustrating, wish we hadn't been sold it as a stock car as we had other options at the time which we do not have now. First world problem and all that, such is life in 2022.been told weeks delivery some have taken over a month and a half to arrive to us.

It's a lease, so it was the lease company that told the lie (or were not actually aware themselves which I do doubt) - They have said I can cancel the order at no cost, but they're well aware that there are no alternatives to speak of currently.milfordkong said:
