Following my terrible luck with my Toyota Aygo (I crashed it, another crash damaged it, a forklift damaged it, and a pickup reversed into it while the paint was drying on my brand new bumper rolleyes ) I decided it was time for a new car

Initially I wanted a 2 seat convertible (MR-S, MGF, MX-5) but I think deep down I just wanted something that looked cool (to me) and was a bit uncommon for a teenager to have.

After about 400 cars checked for insurance quotes and previous MOTs I stumbled upon a lovely Blue Metallic Volvo C70. I don't remember ever seeing one before, and I just really liked how it looked. After a discussion with my dad and a financial agreement arranged, we drove from the Highlands down to Burntisland in his horrible Micra C+C to buy it!

The car was exactly as described, had a few scratches and imperfections, but from a few metres away it looked bloody good. The radio was locked (fixed it on my way home, radio code was written on the back) and it only needs some front tyres and she's good to go! It sounds good too, the interior is lovely, seats are great, roof goes up and down perfectly and there's no rattling.

Great drive up, went the fastest I had ever gone in a motor vehicle and got this picture of me looking a little bit smug being possibly the youngest C70 owner ever.

I've always liked these. But I like the Micra C+C too.

These were always such a good looking thing, I always admired them. One of these with a 5 cylinder engine would be brilliant thing to enjoy for a few summer trips

The 5 cylinder is lovely, compared to the 3 cylinder in my Aygo and whatever they put in my courtesy Daew- I mean Chevy biggrin

Congratulations. The five pot sound works for me. I wouldn't mind a Coupe one, but the convertibles seem far more common.

What's the insurance like? Someone on PH bought a Volvo C30 for their young son and the insurance wasn't too bad at all.

Really nice. The era of Volvo is well made and the shade of blue is perfect. Congrats.

£1800pa, I deemed that acceptable for where I live and such.

Fun insurance thing I found, I was the same price to insure a 350z and a Nissan Cube
One has a V6, the other is a Micra but heavier. Bizarre

So... I realised that I've been running the car without proper tax for a week. Had it taxed under 'disabled'. I am not disabled so a trip to the Post Office tonight to rectify this issue smile

I have enjoyed cruising to work, my dad was right in saying "everything is fun with the roof down" biggrin

When I had a Megane CC I was much nicer driver with the roof down...

Smiles and eye-contact were the order of the day rather than horns and gestures

My brothers mate said "When the fk did LF get that???" as I drove past, gave me a giggle.

I have also been called a tt by a fat old lorry driver.

I think I noted that car for sale locally. They really are quite good looking cars, certainly defy their true age and as far as value for money goes... I'm still amazed at how cheap they are, more so the likes of a T5 GT. I'd quite like one but they just don't fit in to the current situation that well which is a shame as I think it won't be long before there are only a handful left.

Don't think my Morrisons does LPG, not 100% on that. Only doing abt 14k a year so dunno if it'd end up worth it.

Talking of fuel, measured my MPG today and it was 27mpg, quite a lot thirstier than the Aygo but I have been ragging the arse off it biggrin

Nice! I think they’re a great buy.

If anything major went wrong with it you’ll get a large chunk of your money back for the crystal headlights, egg crate grill and Comet alloys, so you can’t go far wrong.

I think they still look classy especially in that colour combo.

Enjoy! thumbup

Was surprised to see that the wheels were worth anything. Mine have been powder coated (???) a darker grey which I really like. And to think I was going to try and fit the R Design grille...

Nice car and I love the colour! I briefly had a red one on an X-reg.

The seats were incredibly comfy and it was a great long-distance cruiser. It's very rare in that it's a convertible that's also a genuine four-seater.

Enjoy!

Christ alive. That's a king's ransom (even by the standards of someone who pays a premium in London)! I hope it's worth it.

My username is after a 2.4T coupe that I ran as a London beater a few years ago. It was very comfortable, pretty reliable (a split header tank and an ABS sensor in 18mths seems reasonable), and made for a perfect 'put it away wet' kind of car. It even managed the trip to Le Mans in 2015.

I also think the coupe is pretty handsome from some angles (definitely not from in front!).

Well considering its a big 2.0 turbo and I am 18 I was willing to accept it smile

I do like the coupe and probably would've preferred it but the cabrio came up and I needed a car so smile
