Fairy liquid or Turtle wax??

Need to get some more stuf to clean the pride and joy... so what are peoples experiences of the above?

Sorry i ddint actually mean "fairy liquid" but i was generalising washing up liquid...

its great for getting bugs and tar off the paint

Fairy liquid is only good for removing ALL the polish wax etc, usefull if you want to start again
or you have a few bug Splats that won't go.

DONT USE WASHING UP LIQUID.

I used the pressure wash at a local ambulance station once (in their down time).

It removed every last bit of wax, dirt and grime within seconds

Then had it rewaxed and sorted properly

If you drive a c*ap old banger washing up liquid will do, if it's your pride and joy go and get a bottle of turtle was car shampoo or better still Meguires softwash.

Washing up liquid has loads of salt in it!

Use proper stuff. I use Autoglym shampoo but I would recommend anything but washing up liquid.

turtle wax is probably better cos its got some wax in it as well, saves all that messing around afterwards!

Yup - makes it fade.

It's actually a crime to wash cars with fairy - if it's not, then it should be!

Well, its very good at keeping the paint in good condition between "proper" wash & wax sessions. Good stuff.

The salt is the main problem -

(a) it acts as a mild abrasive which is perfect for getting encrusted pie off plates but not so good on paintwork and

(b) plates don't rust, and cars do - especialy salted ones.

It DOES keep your hands soft as your face, so there are advantages.

Autoglym offers the benefit of drying without leaving strong marks if it's a 'good drying day'.

Turtle Wax always seems to leave marks which then take even more effort to eliminate. HOWEVER that could be down to the water where I live which seems to take very little time to produce a hard limescale crust in kettles rather than ages to produce a soft limescale deposit which is common in other parts of the country.

In other words there may not be a single answer to this ...
... except NEVER USE WASHING UP LIQUID unless you have a company supplied repmobile and you just don't care.
