I'm after a Car Cover for the Chim so had a quick squizz through the classifieds and found one..

Emailed the seller on the 14th (Monday) and got a reply:

"Yes it is available. Quite a few people interested. First come first served"

so then I say:

"assuming its as described I'll have it.. ..I assume its easily postable"

then after a couple more chatty emails it goes quiet..perhaps the seller will mail me again in the morning..?

15th - Tuesday 11.57am.. No mail yet so I send an email to agree prices, postage etc. No response.

5.30pm.. phone seller on mobile.. "about this car cover can you post it to me then"...."umm err I'm in the middle of something can I phone you back?"...
"sure no problem, speak to you soon"

16th - Wednesday, yesterday.. no phone back, no emails all day..

5pm phone seller again.. "Hi Paul, about this car cover" ..." yeah, its sold sorry"

And its still marked as for sale in the classifieds today too..

basically "thanks for nothing"... not point having a rant at him.. just wanted to get out of the conversation before I told him what I really thought...

I know Mungo.... however I kinda have this "rose-tinted" view of us PH'ers that we wouldn't do this sort of thing to each other...

Was he an actual, verifiable PHer? ie, does he spend more than 50% of the average working day in the Gassing Station?

I suspect not, so not a true PHer...

I had a very similar thing happen when I tried to buy some spare wheels for the Chimaera. Got in contact with the seller (who hadn't managed to sell them for something like 10-12 weeks) - he agreed they were still for sale - I agreed to pay the asking price. I then sorted out transport of said wheels. At this point I got a "I've just remembered that I promised 1st dibs to someone at the local meet"

Bit strange I thought, but hey-ho... I guess I'm not the only one

yeah, but Johno, if I phoned you and asked you if it was for sale,I expect you'd say it was sold... not string me along for three days and then sell to someone else..??

Well if anyone wanted to buy my Rover cabrio or Porsche numberplate from the PH classifieds I'd be really, really nice to them, I'd ask them how their day was going and generally be a lovely, sweet and pleasant person to know.

Not that I'm hinting or anything.

SGirl, you are always a sweet and pleasant person to know, but no thanks to the rover or the plate.

I'd be really nice to anyone that wanted to buy my Puma from the PH classifieds... might even knock a few hundred quid off the asking price!

:hint:
