Hi PH,
I am looking to buy a scrap R18 8J rim for a project. Calling local scrap dealers / breakers yards they all seem to have an opinion that this is a really odd size, yet on ebay etc there are plenty available. It's essentially a LR Defender standard wheel size (current model, 2020 -> ) yet none of them seem to even understand that this is a common size.
Is this likely to be the case or am I saying something wrong?...

If you know what car had this size of wheel fitted then ask for a wheel from that car (rather than asking for the size of wheel).
You are not asking for anything incorrectly, just that breakers are unlikely to have knowledge of the rim widths of their wheels, they will only know if they have an 18 inch alloy from a 2020 LR defender (for example).
(FYI The front wheel size on one of the sets of wheels I have for my 911 is an 8j x18.)
