Looking for some help on choice of spray paint colour in order to get a good looking silver alloy colour on some 2nd hand wheels that I bought recently.

I am looking for this silver colour shown on the spokes on the image below.
Its not the chrome colour of the rim, but the solid looking metallic colour of the spokes.

So which spray paint do you guys think would be the closest match?
Last time I was in Halfords, they stock named manufacture colours, but no way of knowing exactly what they look like without having to randomly buy them and test them, which is a wasteful and expensive method.

By the time you’ve bought enough spray paint and clear to do all four alloys you’ll be in to the job for a decent chunk of a professional powder coated effort.
Would it be more advisable to check out local powder coating firms?
I know of a place local to me that will do a set of 17’s in single coat silver for less than £80. They’re not perfect but have lasted well for 3 to 4 years now.

I used corse silver aerosol paint from euro car parts. Did them in my shed during lockdown MK1. Really happy with the results and it is a finish.

That's a good idea, and something I may do.

@bern
I did one wheel already with some spray paint that I bought as a test. It was VHT Silver from Halfords and finished off with a few layers of clear coat. I got more or less the exact same result as in your image above.

However, although I seemed to have done a decent smooth job on it, the metallic colour is not what I'm after.

So I think I may be opting for a local paint professional to take on the task.

Cheers for replies all.

TLDR: If you can get them done at a reasonable price, get someone else to do it.

I recently did a set of 4 wheels for a BMW, rubbed down, primer, top coat and then clear.

I think the total cost of the paint alone was over €100 ( I do have a small amount left though).

I also probably spent the best part of 8-10 hours preparing and spraying.

I only did the fronts and although they came out well, they weren't perfect by any stretch of the imagination and the backs were still old and grubby looking.

I wouldn't do it again, I would bite the bullet and pay someone else, although here in Ireland, you are looking at €400 for a set of 4 wheels to be done.

I think I may have found the colour I'm after.
Its called Audi Z17 Avus Metallic Silver.
Just wondering if anyone has used this paint before?

(I'll likely still go with a local paint shop, but before I do it would be good to give them the paint code that I 'think' I need)
